My husband and two daughters mean the world to me and therefore I treasure the family moments in which we create together. We enjoy everything from family dinners to going to the beach for frozen yogurt with one another. We have even had campouts in our backyard with the kids and it seems that it is those simple things that we do together that often make the most special memories for us. It really doesn’t matter what we are doing as long as we are enjoying it as a family.
In order for our family to continue to enjoy and treasure these moments it is important that we keep healthy and this holds true even for our skin, especially in the case of both my oldest daughter Madison and I, as we both have the skin allergy Eczema.
If you are not familiar with what Eczema is, it is a condition that causes the skin to become inflamed or irritated usually due to allergies. It is very uncomfortable as it is extremely dry and itchy, which creates a rash, which then produces oozing and sometimes crusting of the skin, and then this can become quite painful. Having an Eczema flare up is never fun and it’s especially worse to see your 5 year old endure it as it causes them pain, loss of sleep due to the itching, and less enjoyment in their daily activities as well.
Since Eczema runs in my family, my family’s skin health is especially important to me and the most effective thing Eczema sufferers can do to prevent a flare up is to keep their skin clean and moisturized. As a matter of fact if you check out any reputable website with information regarding Eczema they will advise that you take warm (not hot) baths on a regular basis and then immediately apply moisturizers afterward to help keep your skin moist. Locking in moisture is very important in helping to keep skin healthy and so I have been teaching my daughter that applying a daily moisturizer to her skin (like I do to mine), such as Lubriderm’s Advanced Therapy Lotion is crucial in her skin’s health.
