This season’s shows were uh-may-zing!  So much so that I’m actually sad writing this– it’s over?  Style Fashion Week LA has come a long way since it’s inception (and then re-inception) just four years ago.

After the kickoff at LA hotspot Salvage, the real show began Monday night with a hot (think sizzling hot) presentation by Nicolita Swimwear.  Break-dancing boys clad entirely in white linen and Cuban fedoras broke the runway ice, followed by darling pin-up gals in suits, also inspired by Havana, with an equal nod to Malibu.  Note to self– start going back to the gym.  La La Land proved that there are still fresh ways to wear that “I didn’t try” look.  Wildlife prints with cut-offs were the theme of the collection, but without question, my favorite Night One designer was Kareena’s Trends.  I’ll be honest-I’m a little biased.  After all, they did dress me for the show, so I got a first-hand view of the gorgeous threads.  Every piece had hand beading, all uniquely and intricately produced.  They specialize in sheer tunics and dresses, and while I don’t have the model physique to wear the long slim-fitting style, I found a perfect, more flattering gathered waist style… hence, they offer something for everyone.  I have no doubt we’ll be seeing a lot more from Kareena’s!!!

Tuesday brought Stop Staring…

and Alternative Apparel…

Once again Stop Staring paid homage to the pin-ups from past. (Maybe they should have followed Nicolita?) and appropriately had “Girl Next Door” Brigette Marquardt on hand again to model the curve hugging dresswear, as well as actress, comedian, and host Lisa Ann Walter, both ladies proving that this line is not for the shy.  Alternative Apparel was totally new to me, but I’m in love!  The California brand pairs faded pastel colors with creams, using only the softest fabrics (literally designer ensures it passes a “soft test.”)  I loved the Baja inspired pullovers.  But these aren’t the dreadful pullovers your boyfriend wore to the Phish shows… oh, no!  These are lightweight, figure flattering pullovers fashioned for men AND women. I wanted to try one on myself, and lucky for me, Alternative Apparel gifted their guests with bags, t-shirts, and gift cards… YES!  So I actually got to check out their brand new store on Abbot & Kinney in Venice, after the show.  If possible, I loved the clothes more in the store than on the runway!  Being the good housewife that I am, I let hub pick something out for himself (a little thank you for watching LA Bebe all week.) He got a baseball tee from the “A-Team” collection– now he’s a huge Alternative Apparel fan too!

Israeli brother and sister team Gypsy05 brought it Wednesday night, showcasing their signature dip-dyed collection.  BUT they introduced us to new cuts we haven’t seen from them before.  In addition to their feminine dresses, they gave us ladies pants!!!  I loved the look seen above with the open back blouse (just need to figure out how someone like myself can get away with that…).  The collection is huge and alive with color.  They know how to design a look that’s both wearable and glamorous.  And they clearly know how to party… after the show, Jeremy Piven’s band played, entertaining myself and the likes of fashion student and reality star Stephanie Pratt and actress and Broadway Producer Beverley Mitchel, who kindly indulged me in my favorite housewife question- “What’s your favorite appliance?” hers being the Vitamix blender.  Second note to self– try the blender next time I’m at Costco.  I digress, GypsyO5 rocks.

Friday’s finale show was undoubtedly my favorite.  Octavio Carlin opened the evening introducing his flirty spring collection.  We saw butterfly prints and bright lime greens, which went together effortlessly.  What a finale… indulging this wedding obsessed lady’s heart, Style Fashion Week LA left us with wedding gown designer, Amato Couture!!!

Once again I want a wedding do-over (same guy, of course!)  There was crystal, everywhere, but TNT (tasteful not tacky… I made that up, do you like it?)  For my fantasy wedding, I picked a style that consisted of a mini-dress and wrap-around/detachable skirt.  The construction was amazing and every piece was a jaw dropper.

I chose to pass on Saturday’s closing show hosted by Zoe Saldana.  Frankly, as much as hub is a fan of hers (and lord knows I love rubbing stuff like that in,) I had seen enough and was more than satisfied with my week of fashion. I found the shows creative, entertaining, and completely inspiring!  The people at Bubblefish Media produced a killer event and I’m beyond excited to shop now with these visions in my mind.  Napoleon Perdis and his team had the models AND GUESTS looking glamorous, and I’m so, so, so in love with my lip glosses!  Speaking of which, I want to share them with you!!!

I have a Napoleon Perdis swag bag to give one reader… I just need 250 FB friends– that shouldn’t be too hard!  Just “like” me on my Facebook page and also leave a comment below this article.   When I have 250 FB friends, I’ll pick a random commenter.  Just make sure to include a contact email or FB name.
