Hush little baby don’t say a word, mama is sleep deprived haven’t you heard?

Oh yes, I know, it’s a common problem with infants, but I miss sleep! My 6 month old who recently moved into her own room has been waking up several times throughout the night. When she was in our room she was doing pretty well, down by 9:30pm and up around 5:30am. Yes I am not a morning person, but I could handle that schedule, especially because she usually fell back asleep by 6:15am and then up to start her day by 8:00am. Once again, I could handle this schedule. What I can not handle is the erratic wake-up times she began having once she was in her own room and I must admit that total sleep deprivation has set in. To make matters worse, our baby’s room is next door to our 4 year old’s room, connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom, so when our baby screams and cries, unfortunately it’s a wake-up call not only for me, but for our oldest daughter too. Thank goodness, she’s been such a trooper about it though. Usually, she just quietly gets up and turns on a lullaby CD she has in her room and then she goes back to sleep. I’m sure the music from the CD helps to drown out the sound of the baby’s cry for her. Now talk about a self-sufficient 4 year old! So as you can see, this is definitely my biggest parenting challenge these days.

I miss sleep, so much so that I began reading a book my friend lent me called, ‘The Baby Whisperer Solves All Your Problems.’ I have now begun working on sleep training my 6 month old using the advice within this book, and hallelujah I had my first decent night’s sleep last night! Now was this a fluke or is the advice in the book actually working? I guess I will only be able to determine this once I see if this good night’s sleep will stay consistent.

She is such an angel when she is sleeping.

So anyhow, here I am getting ready to go to sleep soon, will it be sweet slumber or a total nightmare? I guess I will just have to wait and see.

If any of my readers have any advice out there to give me about getting my baby to sleep better at night, please know that I am all ears.
