Grammy Award Winning Artist and legend Whitney Houston has died, her Publicist Kristen Foster has confirmed.  The singer/actress was only 48 years old. The cause of death is unclear as of now.

The Beverly Hills Police Department responded to an emergency call at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday where the singer was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. in her room on the fourth floor of the Beverly Hilton. Her body remained in the hotel, while Beverly Hills detectives investigated.

Houston saw much success in the 1980’s and 90’s with hits such as “Greatest Love of All,” “How Will I Know,” “Saving All My Love,” and “I Will Always Love You.”

Her career also extended into acting with films like the “The Bodyguard,” and “The Preacher’s Wife.”

It is well known that Whitney Houston struggled with drugs which ultimately took a toll on both her career and her voice, as record sales greatly declined and her voice had become hoarse.

Whitney Houston is undoubtedly one of the greatest voices of all time and has influenced such artists as Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson.

The songstress is survived by daughter Bobbi Kristina.
